TX to IA
Wednesday we headed back to Corsicana with the machinery. The whole trip we were eating great food, mostly barbecue and Mexican. We stopped at a German barbecue place on the way back north that was interesting; you ordered meat (which was given to you on paper with a loaf of bread) and got pickles and drinks. No plates, just meat. My kind of place...
The last day and a half in Texas was spent at the Burns household relaxing and drinking sweet tea. And playing pool. We spent a lot of time with his parents and they said they liked me--they were very nice to me and we had a great time in Texas.
And then we were off to Iowa! Friday Grandma picked us up and showed Rick around Des Moines and that night was Game Night at Grandma's. There were about 15 of us there. Check out the sweet cake Theresa and her mom made for us...
And it's all edible! After a rousing game of Cranium (Anne, Allyson, and Rick won) we headed to downtown Des Moines to take in the nightlife. Saturday morning we flew from Ankeny to Northwood to update my IFR and had lunch with my parents, Andy and Amber, and Uncle John. Mom had so much food--I swear her goal was to fatten us up so we couldn't get on the plane to go back!
Saturday afternoon we headed to Jay and Lauren's wedding--Anne and I cried through the whole thing. It was so beautiful and they are such beautiful people.
