I was busy (for a change) the last week or so--it's finally good to unwind and blog while watching American Idol (I'm not always proud of the TV choices I make...)
Last week I had a lot of homework and my first test as well as cramming in my lab to get my boss results for his conference, but now I can breathe. My parents were at the Iowa Winter Beef Expo last week to sell two heifers and a bull and were pleasantly surprised to have the high -selling female at the Hereford sale. Now Dad has scouts wanting to see what else will come out of his barn--it's great. He's been working so hard and long to get to this point of breeding success and recognition in his cattle--I'm very proud of him. Check out his picture and Scroll down to the bottom--Dad and his heifer are the 2nd to bottom picture on the right.
Friday Rick and I headed to Altoona to carpool with friends to go to Kansas City to visit more college friends. The driving was a little treacherous, but we made it there in one piece. Shortly after we arrived, I realized I left my wallet at the Altoona Culver's. Excellent. I called and they said they'd hold it for me over the weekend, but I had no ID, no plastic, and seeing as I don't usually carry cash, I had 80 cents to spend on the weekend. Good thing I also had good friends and a fiancee... We like to eat BBQ when we are in KC, and we decided to try some place new Friday night--it wasn't our favorite. I spent 58 cents on breath mints--new weekend spending limit, 22 cents. We went to the movies as well--boys went to something action and the girls saw He's Just Not That Into You. It was cute, but I didn't love it. Saturday we spent the day playing Trivial Pursuit and Wii, eating and drinking more than we should have--it was fun. I labored over some heart-shaped pancakes for at least half an hour Valentine's Day morning and we ate for at least as long. Mmmm. Sunday we headed home, picked up my wallet (with all the contents included) and were back to the real world. But it's always great to hang out with good friends, regardless of what we find ourselves doing all weekend.
Last night I was invited to a girls' night at a friends house--it was fun and I was glad to have a nightlife in Ames. And I'm loving volleyball nights as well. And this weekend my college roommate Scarlett will be in town--I'm so exited!
