Finally, time to breathe. A night to relax. No entertaining, no planning, no worrying. Another welcomed lull in this crazy life.
As I'm sure many (if not all of you) know, Rick and I were married on Kauai in January and decided to host a party (a reception, if you will) back home. That party was this past weekend. Although it was low-key, there was still a little planning to be done (which was a welcomed distraction a few weeks ago when I was doing nothing at work) and a little bit of stress, but it all went off without a hitch. It was different--no father/daughter dance, no garter, no DJ. Just some Hickory Park catering, cake from Hy Vee, and dueling pianos. It was so fun! And I think everyone loved Andy and Mike, the pianos, and I thought how nice it was to have such talented friends: the photographer is a friend from college, my friend from high school did my hair, and her husband was half of the dueling pianos (who I have been following for years). And it was so great to see everyone! Unfortunately, I only took 3 pictures, so I'll have to rely on others' pictures to post to share.
Aside from (well, because of) the party, there were lots of family and friends in the area. Rick's best friend Jeff and Rick's parents came up from Texas and stayed with us Wednesday-Monday, and my sister hosted about 30 people for Easter dinner! It was a crazy weekend, but it was so great to be surrounded by those we love.
And now we're back into "normal" life. The neighborhood is springing up, the job is keeping me busy, and last week we were league champions in volleyball. I'm putting together a Relay For Life team, thinking of things that need to be done around the house, working on thank you notes. I should get back to those...
