Saturday afternoon we headed to a neighborhood block party to meet some more neighbors. The last block party was in October and this one was hosted by a different household and we met quite a few new faces. We have a very nice neighborhood with very nice people. We are pretty friendly with the two houses across the street from us (I rode my bike with the 4-year-old across the street last Friday night) and everyone seems cordial. It was nice to meet new people and although we couldn't stay long I was glad we were able to make it.
We didn't stay long because Saturday night was my 10-year high school reunion. I don't keep in touch with too many of my classmates (except the brother-in-law) but usually see a few over holidays and such. I would say about half of our 42 classmates showed up for the evening. We took a group photo and had a nice dinner and then played Bunco, which at first I was leery of, but it was fun and easy and a good way to mix everyone up. It also helped that I had the most wins on the night. All in all, it was great to connect with everyone again and I think even Rick had a good time.
Sunday I slept in. Actually, a text from work woke me, but I rolled over and reveled in the morning off. Rick sited his gun while I took Darby for a swim at the duck pond, and we were back home again shortly after lunch. I spent the day doing nothing in particular and loved my day off.
Though Monday was back to work, I was refreshed, and by Wednesday we got another much needed break--the heat. The past two mornings have almost been cool, and it's amazing to have some of the summer back. Work is slowing down (I'll only be working one day this weekend as well, and it will be my last weekend) and I'm counting down the days until vacation. We got our travel documents for our Europe trip in the mail today, so I'm getting really excited! Rick's dad is visiting this weekend and we're staining the fence on Saturday as well as touch ups on the deck--hopefully beautiful home improvement project pictures headed your way soon!
