I have spent the last weekend recovering from the last week--it was a busy one! My mom came down on Saturday and we spent the day Christmas shopping. After watching the tail end of the Texas A&M game at home, we went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse and very unexpectedly ran into Rick's parents. Turns out they drove all the way up from Texas to come to the baby shower on Sunday! They were going to surprise us by showing up Sunday morning, but we just happened to pick the same restaurant at the same time and were surprised Saturday night instead. It was so nice of them to make the trip up!
Sunday afternoon was the baby shower, and it was lovely. Special thanks to Kim and her helpers Kristen, Rachel, and Allyson for helping to make it a great day! Above is the yummy cake (which we just finished tonight).Rachel made this great diaper cake--it was so cute and had all sorts of goodies on it. Very clever! We played games and opened gifts and just had a very nice afternoon with some family and good friends. Thanks to everyone who came and made the day so special!
Rick and his dad avoided the shower by going to see the new James Bond movie, but when he came back I asked my cousin Amber to take a few pictures of us together. My sister and her husband had some professional photos taken a few weeks ago and they turned out great, but I wasn't that motivated. Thanks Amber for taking these for us! It was dark by the time Rick got home, so we just took some around the house.
My family is loving the belly shots of my sister and I together. We are almost there!
Rick's folks stayed here on Sunday night and my mom, sister, and aunt stayed with my sister that night. After seeing Rick's parents off Monday morning, I had taken the day off and went with my mom, sister, aunt, and cousin and did some more Christmas shopping. It was a full day! Between the shower and the shopping my house was a disaster but I was too tired to care about it. Today, almost a full week later, I have finally reclaimed the living room and the baby's room isn't in disarray. The room is ready but I'm not sure I am; only 4 weeks to go!
