As we are a full week into March I realize I never updated in February. We had a lot of family time in February and a lot of fun with our little girl!
We finished our Water Babies classes the first week of February and although Natalie loves them, I was ready for them to be done. Not super exciting for me and I'm not sure she really learned anything, but I know she loved the pool time and the songs that were sung.
The first weekend in February my sister and niece came to visit. The girls adore each other and it was great fun. We try and see each other about once a month and they get to Face Time weekly, so they are best friends. It was great to see them and catch up with my sister.
The following week was more time with my family. My dad has been selling cattle at the Beef Expo for many years and this year they had two cow-calf pairs (that sold very well). Natalie and I went down to see them one day and although Natalie loves the idea of the "tiny cows", she is terribly afraid of them. She will tell you that they are her favorite and that she wants one, but she will not pet one nor stand next to one. Silly girl. Grandma and Grandpa stayed with us all week and we loved having them!
That weekend my sister, my brother-in-law, and I went skiing at Afton Alps. I hadn't been skiing in about 10 years but I wasn't too rusty. I only fell a few times and not until later in the day. It was a great time!
I also saw two great shows at the end of February, Audra McDonald and Pippin. Both were great and I can't wait to see what the lineup for the Broadway series is next year. Announcement goes up tomorrow!
The past few days was a big weekend. On Friday, Gigi invited us to see Opera Iowa's production of Cinderella. It was free and geared toward a young audience so Grandma asked us to join her. I was a little worried about how it would go because it was an opera that started just shy of bedtime, but we gave it a try and I'm glad we did. Natalie loved it. She was mesmerized by it. At the intermission and at the end of the show she asked for more. And she seemed to understand it as well; during a quiet moment in the second act she said, "That's the bad guy!" which was super cute and there were chuckles throughout the audience. After the production the cast invited all the little "prince and princesses" up to meet Cinderella; Natalie was so happy! It ended up being a great night. Thanks Gigi!

Yesterday we enjoyed the weather but otherwise it was pretty low-key. Today we went down to Kids' Fest at the state fairgrounds. We got there early to try and miss the crowds and Natalie loved it. She bounced in bouncy houses, rode the train, got tattoos, won some prizes, listened to story time, got some pictures with her favorite Disney characters, and, most importantly, met another princess! Natalie was so smitten with Belle! We were there only a few hours and traffic had started to pick up, but we could have stayed there much longer. After a nap we enjoyed the beautiful weather again today; I think spring has finally sprung!
