Turnover. It's incredible out here. It's not just at Pioneer--it's the nature of the island. Those raised here stay here and those that come from the mainland usually return within a few years. Since I've been here--7 months--we've lost roughly 10 of our roughly 70 full time employees. Half of them have moved to the mainland. I mention it not only because there seems to be a mass exodus at work right now, but because one of those leaving is Yara, my old boss. The first one to greet me at the airport when I arrived. She'll be back--had to renew her visa--but she's leaving within a week. Thought I would put up some pictures of some of my co-workers.

Connie, Yara, and Sandy. Yara's going to Canada for a while until her visa renews--these guys are a hoot. Yara's my old boss, Connie and Sandy are my new co-workers.

A shot of the Genetics Guys--my old crew. A few are missing, but we have Josh, Jose, Flo, Hermi, Yara, and Lily. Great group. Thought you might be interested in seeing the diversity of my co-workers. Parties for Yara this week--should be fun.
Exciting news--my car door is fixed!! It now closes without the use of a bungee cord. I can get in and out of the car without having to crawl over the middle or tie the door shut. It's great. And tonight at Salt Pond Eric brought out his telescope and we checked out the stars. I saw Saturn's rings--it was amazing! I'm hosting a Mario Kart party tomorrow night--should be a good time.
Nothing else new. Just livin'. Hope all is well--I'll leave you with a Salt Pond sunset...

How was the Mario Kart party? Never got around to playing the last time I was at the Wipperman residence. I think of you every time I drive with, uh, "Betty."
Mass exodus, eh? Just make sure you stay out there long enough so the Norwegian and I can come visit. We're working on it...maybe next winter...
