Almost done...

I should be working on my homework, so I will try and keep this short. A few items of business:

Recently, my friends Haley and Alyssa lost their father to cancer and they passed on the following message to get the word out about cancer awareness:

April is cancer control month. Make sure to participate in your local Relay for Life or other benefit for survivors or those who've lost the battle. I'll be lighting a candle at the Relay for Life for my dad, Mark, who passed away from cancer on April 12, 2008. Will you please encourage your friends, co-workers, etc. to promote cancer awareness and help the cause to look for research to help in cancer prevention as well as cures?

May we all be grateful for our health and cherish our loved ones.

On a different note, it's the last week of classes and next week is finals. One semester almost down-- I just wish I didn't have to study! Unfortunately, the break won't be long as I'm taking biochemistry this summer and, I just found out, I will be presenting our lab's research in an oral presentation at the international MPS conference. So really I can't relax for another two months or so...

Last week Wartburg released the sad news that President Ohle will be leaving the college for Gustavus. It's kind of strange how I feel sad about the whole ordeal. He'd been there 10 years, only a few years before I stepped foot on campus. But I find as I get older and know less students a the college, I still know (some of) the faculty and staff. But without Ohle and his orange blazers and the Wartbug, it will feel a little less like Wartburg. He was a good guy and I loved how he knew things about me (my major, May term trips, etc.), but could never remember my name. Seemed to love the college and Waverly and made it seem homey, and was accessible to the student body. The campus has transformed under his presidency--I think he's done a lot for the college. Apparently he doesn't bleed orange like I thought he might. Regardless, we'll miss you, J. Ro.

Sucks about Pres Ohle. When somebody who's cool and personable and fun leaves, it always makes ya wonder about the next person to fill their shoes. Did you access the email through your Wartburg email account? I've been having issues with mine... :( - Tara
