Another week done

I spent Labor Day with my friends and their nearly 2-month-old baby before picking Rick up from the airport--he had been in Hawaii for work. The day was fairly relaxing in contrast to the thesis writing days preceding it. I had two presentations on Wednesday (one 40 minutes and one 15) and both went well. Dentist said I had a very healthy mouth and work was busy. Pretty typical week.

Saturday was the big Iowa-Iowa State game and we had a good time tailgating and hanging out with the family, but the game was pitiful. Well, if you're an ISU fan. It probably would have beneficial if our quarterback passed to receivers on our team and not the defensive players, but then again, what do I know. I'm just a fan.

Today Rick and I went to two bridal shows to try and get our cake pinned down--we narrowed it down to three and we're meeting with HyVee tomorrow morning. Hoping to get this detail down and then that's all the big things taken care of...though our flight was cancelled earlier this week--got that straightened out!

Big presentation this week--40 minutes in front of the department. Last week's was practice for this week and I have the modifications made, but I'm still a little nervous about the questions faculty, staff, and students might come up with. Good practice for the defense, though. And I had neglected the thesis for a few days and was pleasantly surprised to find that it read better than I remembered. I honestly think I will have a semi-final draft ready by the end of the week and able to ask people to review it for me.

Saturday is the Heartland Run for the MPSs--our research group's fun run fundraiser to raise money for research for the mucopolysaccharidoses (the diseases we research). If you're not busy this Saturday morning and are in the Ames area, please come and meet the kids and families and raise money for a great cause. Register or donate online.

I just keep thinking that in a month or so life will be so much easier once the weight of this thesis is off my shoulders...
