The calm before the storm

This weekend I'm, well, almost relaxing. It's a little crazy. Although I "finished" my thesis 10-ish days ago, I had sent it to my boss and am waiting for his revisions. I am expecting them tomorrow--hopefully it won't be devastating. It may be a crazy few days--I would really like to have the thesis edits completed and to my committee before I leave on Thursday.

The church ladies from back home will be throwing Rick and I a wedding shower next month, so we decided we had better get on registering. Last week we registered at Target and yesterday we hit up Kohl's. Turns out we may be the worst registerers in the world. We both had household goods before we moved in together and had to consolidate and we don't really need anything. Plus, we don't have a house so we don't know how to decorate or what we need--do we need a microwave, or will it be built in? Will we need shelving or storage stuff or will we have tons of storage? Do we need a shower curtain or will there be doors on the shower? What color will the walls be? I bet this stuff is so much easier for people who already have a house and are established. Regardless, it was very nice they offered to throw us a shower and I'm glad to have the "burden" of registering.

I am looking forward to catching up with my friends on Kauai at the end of the week--talked to my old roommate Kristin last night for over an hour--I miss having a girl roommate sometimes. I'm going to be on Kauai Friday-Monday and will be doing some wedding stuff, going sailing, hanging out with old friends... can't wait. Tuesday-Saturday I'll be at the ASHG conference and I'm excited for the learning opportunity and have been spending the morning trying to figure out which sessions I want to attend and what it is I want to get out of this conference.

I get back on the 25th, have a test on the 28th, and then Rick and I head to Texas on the 29th to see his folks and go to the A&M/ISU football game. So essentially, I will be home 7 of the next 21 days. Crazy. And a month from now my defense will be over and in less than 3 months I'll be married!

So many exciting, life-changing events happening in the next few months! Sorry if the posts go to the wayside--it's going to be really busy! Hopefully I'll get some sweet pictures up from my travels. Stay warm!
