I'm still recovering from our fabulous vacation and am in denial that I have to go back to work tomorrow. Last week Rick and I headed to where the two peninsulas of Michigan meet and spent 3 days on Mackinac Island. Never heard of it? Not sure that I had either. Rick and I saw it covered on Sunday Morning last winter and it caught our interest. We can't wait to go back again.

Quick orientation to the island: it is 4 square miles and located in Lake Huron, just 5 miles off of the mainland where the Upper Peninsula of Michigan meets the lower. Most get to the island via ferry, but there is a small air strip as well. Automobiles are banned on the island; transportation is limited to horses and bicycles, though given its size we chose to walk most of the time. There are 300 year-round residents and twice as many horses in the summer. One doctor, two vets.

I'll document our trip and give more details later, but I wanted to put out a teaser for now.
