Rick's parents came up from Texas last week to visit and we had a great time. The visit included a tour of the John Deere production plant in Waterloo, Living History Farms, tours of Ames and Des Moines, Prairie Meadows, and Hickory Park. My folks came down and we all ate together--the meeting went well. Both sides said it was nice to meet the other and my sister loved the accents (though, apparently, we're the ones with accents). Rick's folks loved Iowa--lots of farmland (his dad's a farmer, hence the JD tour) and his mom kept saying how clean it is. It felt good to have outsiders compliment the place I find myself drawn to...
This week has just been work and the norm. Played some volleyball last night--we lost but it was still a lot of fun. I got home last night and crashed hard--my back hurt so bad and I've had this sore throat and cough and fever--I just went to bed as soon as I got home. Felt a little better today so I went to work where I was soon sweating behind my knees (and back and arms...). I went to the health center and they told me I was fine. My temperature was 97 and I was dripping sweat. Go figure. I came home for some rest--if I just lay around I feel fine, but if I move around too much I get lightheaded or hot. Man, I hate being pseudo-sick. Being real sick is so much better--you don't feel guilty sitting at home when you're puking. I keep thinking I'll be fine and then feel horrible once I get where I'm going.
Started my online summer course today--and fell asleep. I really have to get motivated. Heading home this weekend for Mom's birthday, my biennial flight review, and graduation party. Hopefully I'm better by then (though the doctor told me I had another 7 days to be sick...).
