Rain, rain, go away

Blogger has some new layouts and designs so I'm going to see which one I might like--let me know if you love or hate any!

It's been a while, but we've been busy. We didn't have big plans for the Memorial Day weekend aside from attending my friend Connell's medical school graduation, but it ended up being a very full 3 days. Saturday was the graduation and party--congratulations, Dr. Connell! Sunday we went to the movies and did some shopping and Monday we had some friends over for a backyard barbecue. Miss Caelyn was in attendance as well and less grumpy than when I had last saw her. How cute is she?

It was a perfect day for grilling and backyard games. We played bags and boccie and had a lot of fun.
It's been raining off and on for what seems like forever. Last week we were only able to be in the field on Monday and Maggie has been a wet, muddy mess for what seems like forever. The downside to having a horse with large patches of white is that somehow, even if all of the other horses in the pen will be clean, she will be covered in mud. It's been disgusting. We haven't had to water the lawn, however.

Our Pampered Chef show raised $300 for the American Cancer Society--thank you for your support! If you would still like to donate to the ACS, click here.

Earlier this week I met the new State 4-H Council--they're a great group and we had a fun time. It was a busy week--I took Wednesday off to spend the day with them (knew all 25 names by lunchtime!), worked on Thursday and then headed back up to the camp to spend the night with them again. Friday was back to work and by the end of the day I was tired.

But the weekend was just beginning! Rick's father came up from Texas to visit this past weekend and we kept busy. Friday night was Mexican food, Saturday we went to a bike shop. Roy is looking to buy himself a bike and I got a new bike! It's so beautiful and such an improvement over the hot pink Huffy my sister got in the 6th grade. All of the gears work on the new bike and it's so much lighter and easier to pedal. It has hybrid tires instead of mountain bike tires (unnecessary for my needs), but I couldn't see getting road tires--I thought I might need the wider base for balance! It's beautiful and I wish it would stop raining so I could ride it some more! I have gone on 2 bike rides since I bought it--the seemingly only 2 half hours that it wasn't raining in the past forever! I will put a picture of it up soon, but thought I would get a nice picture of it glistening in the sun. The old bike has already left our house--gave it away to a coworker.

Saturday afternoon the guys came out and watched me ride Maggie; the stable owners were glad to know that Rick wasn't a figment of my imagination. I drank too much water again (have to figure out how to not over-hydrate) and had to recuperate with a nap while the boys grilled and prepared supper. Grilled meat, corn on the cob, and potatoes--mmmm! Sunday we ran to pick up some sweet feed for Maggie--she's kind of skinny. Then the boys hung up our tool holders in the garage--check it out:
Really clears up the garage floor! A little more shopping on Sunday, then Shrek in 3D, Cheesecake Factory (their new red velvet cheesecake is amazing!) and then making some cookies for the road. Roy left out early this morning, but we had a great time while he was here.

And now it's back to reality. Special hello to Judith and Cliff in England--thanks for reading! So great to hear from you!

The purple is pretty but the blue writing (for the archives, etc) is really hard to see. I want you to send some of that BBQ over here! We had Yakiniku (grilled meat- we took you there one night) for Motoaki's b-day but it was missing the corn... There was also corn at the Hotaru Matsuri (lightning bug festival) but in an effort to save money, my budget only allowed for steak and an ice cream... Next time... And that's great you get to see Roy so often! I loved it when I saw on facebook that he likes Glee. LOL!- Jane
