Scenic Switzerland and Interlaken

The next morning (in case you're wondering, we're up to September 9th), we left Lake Lucerne and took the scenic route to Geneva.  It was a long day on the bus in comparison to the previous few days.  We stopped not long after departure for a photo stop at Lungern--a beautiful lake with a sleepy town at the base of mountains.  Beautiful.

Not too much farther was a stop at Interlaken.  Interlaken means "between two lakes" and the cute little town lies with beautiful views of the mountains and also a river that connects these two lakes.  We walked around a bit here taking photos and watching the town bustle preparing for a marathon.
From the large park in Interlaken we could see Jungfrau, a beautiful snow-capped mountain.  There were also people hang gliding (or parachuting) off of a mountain overlooking the city.  Apparently if you run down the side of the mountain the updrafts inflate the chute and they land in the park in the city.  Sounds a little dangerous to me!

Have I mentioned that I love the zoom on our new camera?

After an hour of exploring, we hopped back on the bus where our driver took us up on a mountain pass since the weather was nice.  The view was beautiful.  The sun and bus windows left quite a glare, but I was able to get some decent pictures.

We did get to stop at the top of the mountain pass to take some photos.  I don't know how our driver navigated that pass--well done, sir!
I loved the cows with their bells!

Such amazing scenery.  Next up is a beautiful medieval town, but we'll save that for the next post.
