Notre Dame

Our first stop on the last day of our European trip was at Notre Dame.  It was amazing.
 The architecture was amazing.

All of the carvings on the outside of the building were very ornate and the three doors to the church were different and depicted three different scenes: one door depicted Christ's life, one was Mary's life, and the third was Mary's ancestors.  Above were Adam and Eve.

The stained glass used to be all colored which made the interior of the church very dark, but the priests were the only literate ones so it didn't really matter.  There are only a few original windows remaining, and the interior was still fairly dark.

The interior of the church was equally amazing.  It was huge and there was a ceremony taking place (Sunday mass, I assume), and the priest's chants in such a big cathedral were almost haunting.  We walked around inside and took some good pictures, but they can't possible capture the beauty and amazing architecture that overwhelmed me.

Notre Dame was one of the highlights of our trip for me.  Absolutely amazing.
