Happy New Year! I hope you all rolled in 2012 as nicely as we did with good friends. As I think back on 2011, I can't think of a better year. I spent a lot of time with my husband and family, went on some great trips and saw some amazing places, made some new friends in our neighborhood, still loving my job, and made some improvements to the house. I said goodbye to Maggie, but Darby still keeps us busy. I hope that 2012 can keep the bar as high as 2011!
Now I'm not one for much new year's resolutions because they seem to fall by the wayside by March, but I am setting a goal for myself this year. The goal: try at least one new recipe a week for dinner. I have a great baking book from Taste of Home and got their latest cookbook and Gifts from the Kitchen for Christmas. I also subscribed to their magazine this year and have the first issue (which I haven't even opened!), so there is no shortage of options. We (like most people I'm sure) fall into the same food ruts and rotate the same few recipes every week and go out to eat more than we should. I also need to do some serious organizing in my recipe area--there are ton of recipes on scraps of paper and torn from magazines that need to get on cards or at least in the box and not just on the counter.
By the way, if you've never looked into Taste of Home recipes and books, you should! I haven't been disappointed yet and have tried so many recipes in the baking book. Plus, how great is it that they have a book completely dedicated to baking? I love baking but not cooking, I think it's because the payoff from baking lasts much longer. And I love sweets.
Anyway, a new year, a new month, a new blog milestone (this is number 400)! Here's to new beginnings and continuations of the past greatness!
