Since the contractors don't work weekends, the end of week 3 is really day 15. There are a bunch of sub contractors that come in and work for a day or two, and then there's someone new in the next day or sometimes there will be a day or two break, but we are amazed at how quickly they are moving! I realized I hadn't updated since the electrician (which wasn't too exciting to look at), so here's what's been going on the past two weeks.
The plumber came and installed the shower. I was a bit worried about the size of the bathroom, but I think it will be plenty big for as much as it will get used. The sink and toilet aren't here yet, but we think that they might install those after laying the tile. So far, we haven't really noticed when work has been done in the basement without physically going down there to check. Two exceptions: we found the freezer in the garage was no longer running when we took out some meat. Luckily we found this out the day after the electrician had first been there and there was only one package of meat we had to throw out (unfortunately it was deer meat). I was also reminded that the plumber had been working the evening the shower was installed; my shower was lukewarm at best. We noticed at lunchtime that the water had been shut off to the rest of the house, but apparently when it was turned back on the on-demand water heater was reset to something lower than I would prefer. Easy fix, but one warmish shower! This week drywall arrived--that's when it really started to take shape!
One thing I was excited about (and Rick less so) was the movement of all the pipes (below) from the beams pictured above. The sump pump is under the stairs and there is a ton of wasted storage space so I had asked if we could do something about it. We live on a hill nowhere near any lakes or rivers, so we don't think we'll need to run the sump pump much if ever and I'd feel safe storing totes and airtight containers under here. So now to reroute the outlet here and move those beams!
The drywallers did their magic on Friday. We came home to a basement with walls! We were so excited! Please pardon their mess, but here's the virtual tour:
Here's the view as you come down the stairs. Bathroom through left door, living area on the right.

Utility room will remain unfinished. My under-stairs storage will be accessed through here. We think we'll probably move Darby's crate to here as well
Looking into the bedroom. I'm really happy with the natural light considering it's in the basement.

It's really coming together! Been very busy otherwise, so will give a life update soon. Happy April!
