Ashley does Dallas

In the spirit of Debbie Does Dallas. Ha. Anyway, I just got back from the big 'meet the parents' trip--Rick and I both wanted to go home to see everyone so we decided to accompany one another. It was a great vacation (and it seemed really long--an added bonus). So I'm flashing back in time once again to recount almost 2 weeks.

We left out of Lihue on Friday the 13th (and nothing bad happened) and flew overnight to DFW. Rick's mom picked us up and we were off and I would discover that everything really is bigger in Texas. I guess. Rick and Becky (his mom) took me down to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Back in the day, cattle from all over South Texas would be driven to the Stockyards where they would be loaded on trains or driven north.
We walked around a while that morning and watched the cowboys drive the longhorns.
We're so close to danger! Doesn't that steer look violent?
Me on big Jake. Yeah, I'm riding a steer. They rode him down the street to his picture position...
Did you know that Walker, Texas Ranger was filmed in Fort Worth? Here's the bar that was CD's on the show. I also stuck my head out the window to take a picture of the courthouse where Walker goes through the door at the beginning of each episode... I really don't watch Walker so much anymore, but you've got to respect Chuck Norris. Besides, the song says 'when you're in Texas look behind you'... Yeah, I was always looking behind me for Chuck. Too bad I never saw him :(

Glad to hear you made it back to the islands safe and sound. Hope you had a nice time for R&R, and are ready to dive back into work. Thought of you tonight as I was making ice cream sandwich cookies like you did when you were here. Take care. C.
