And last, but certainly not least, my sister and Chad got engaged this past weekend!! I was so excited the first night I couldn't sleep. The only detail at this time is the bride and groom, but more to come soon. Perhaps I'll ask her to be a guest blogger to let you know how the engagement happened (it's a cute story with great pictures). Congratulations to them!!!!

Welcome summer
Well, it's been a long haul, but I finally get to enjoy my summer. Why, you ask? Because I'm done with biochemistry!!!! It started out well, but as the summer went on I disliked the class more and more. But I did well enough to not have to take it again-you need to get at least a B in all of your classes in grad school-success!
Hmm, since the last post I've been doing my best to not work too much and enjoy some of the summer. RAGBRAI overnighted in Ames and I rode my bike to work thinking it would be the easiest way to get around for the day. As a result, I ended up riding about 2 miles of the RAGBRAI route on the way home. It's the small victories...
I was once again awed by the welcoming and warm nature of people of Iowa. People lined the streets cheering on the bikers, welcoming them to the city and encouraging them to finish strong. People hosting strangers, encouraging each other, meeting others...people always amaze me.
We hosted a BBQ and have been bumming around. Like I said, my summer has been a little occupied with studying (or at least feeling guilty about studying). And I can't believe it's August already. But you know what that means---the Iowa State Fair!!!!!! I am opening Rick's eyes to the glory that is the greatest event of the year this weekend. I can't wait! I'm so excited! Next blog you can expect photos and the blessed event. I am also a really big Olympics fan (I've set the DVR to record everything), so I'm ready to be entertained and enthralled.

Congrats to your sister!
I thought of you this weekend. Kjell and I went to the the Missouri State Fair, and their butter cow (and two slightly deformed butter cats) totally sucked. All hail the Iowa State Fair!!!
