April already?

Things have been busy here--school has been keeping me busy and we have had eventful weekends. I just can't believe it's April already!

We cheered for the ISU ladies and they had a great season--Elite Eight! Their final game was amazing...for the other team. One girl had ~46 points--a record for her school--and the Cyclones had ~50 points. It didn't help that we were missing our 3-pointers (usually our strength), but it was fun to get behind a winning team for a change.

Allyson and I got a sneak peek of Wicked (coming to DM this fall)--they brought in some performers and showed us a highlights reel and had Wicked themed foods...mmm. It really got us excited for the show, even though we won't see it until September. Tomorrow we go to The Color Purple.

I helped judge the 4-H scholarships the other day--there are some amazing kids out there. Went to a work party on Friday night, and Rick got to meet my co-workers. This weekend we celebrated Braden and Rachel's birthday in Des Moines--good times with good friends. Our friends from KC stayed at our place Saturday night and we woke up to 3 inches of snow! In April! We got our guests on the road and later heard they closed I-35 for about 2 miles just north of Ames--crazy! Rachel and Kjell inspired us to make a snowman and the snow was perfect for it--only took us 10 minutes!

We decided to make him grilling--I thought it was ironic that we had the grill out (and had used it a few times already this year) and then we had all this crazy snow. I'm not sure if Rick had ever made a proper snowman before--he seemed surprised when I told him we didn't need the shovel to make the snowman.
In other exciting news, we have found a reception site that we liked, Gates Memorial Hall in Nevada, and we confirmed the date with Hickory Park catering and I talked to my friend Mike and booked (at least part of) the band Snafu (listen to Let Your Soul Run Free--love it!). I am so excited--it's all coming together. April 3, 2010--a little under a year from now we'll have a rockin' good time! I can't wait!

Rick's parents are coming at the end of the week and we're all heading to Northwood for Easter. Should be fun!

Love the snowman! You are a creative crew! We didn't get quite enough to make a snowman...and it didn't last long! Happy April to you!
