Flowers

My flowers are blooming! The azaleas were in bloom when I bought them, but I purposely bought the ones that had the most life left in them. I was so excited today when the lilies started blooming that I couldn't help but share!

Yellow lilies--the red, pink, and orange are still to come!

Bleeding hearts

An overview of the garden. I think the crimson lilies are so pretty even though they haven't broken through--I think it's the contrast of the red and green and the promise of something new and beautiful.

The garden took a bit of a hit last week with the hot weather, especially the hydrangea. But, aside from some crispy leaves, it's recovering. When I bought the hydrangea, it had blue flowers, and the newest ones are a purple color. The color changes based on the pH of the soil from blue to pink... I think it may be changing to pink. Exciting, though I have quite a bit of pink in the garden already. I'm just glad they're doing well, I hope you enjoy the spring pictures!

Also a quick update regarding the last post: sadly, Mom did not win the Farm Mom of the Year contest. But a very deserving woman from northern Iowa won the Midwest regional award. Mom, you're #1 in my book any day! Love you!
