For Memorial Day, we headed to the Okoboji area. Neither of us had ever been there and so many people in the state head there for vacation, so we decided to see what we were missing. It was a great weekend: we explored the area, went shopping, got upgraded at the hotel to a whirlpool room, hiked a little, and ate an amazing meal at Minerva's. Here's some pictures from the mini-trip:
We rounded out the long weekend with a barbecue with friends--why can't every weekend be that great (and long)?
Relay for Life was on Friday and spent some quality time with my sister and some friends that came out to support the team. It's not too late to donate if you haven't yet! Yesterday (after reclaiming some sleep from the Relay), we went to a birthday party in the wonderful summer weather. Today was yard work and the movies. We also (finally!) found a small plastic pool for Darby to cool off in out in the yard. Sad news--she may be the only lab I've ever met that isn't really fond of water. She doesn't care for sprinklers, but I assumed that it was because it was scary and moving. Now I'm wondering if it was the water itself. We threw her in the pool and she's very tolerant, but I'm not sure she would go in on her own. We made a game of throwing her toys in the pool and that sort of worked, but it's a work in progress. You know if we had a fancy pool and didn't want her in it we wouldn't be able to keep her out. Go figure.
Another busy week in store, including a few nights at the 4-H camp. Summer is in full swing!
