Aloha all. Just a quick note--it's been a very busy week. I've hardly had time to do anything besides work and sleep. Stayed late more than once this week, but I've banned myself from thinking about work until June 4th. Why, you might ask? Because in 24 hours I will be in Japan!!! Our plane leaves Kauai at 8:30 tomorrow morning and then we leave Honolulu around lunchtime. With the time/day change, we'll be in Osaka mid-afternoon on Saturday. I can't wait to see Jane!!!
I do have some excitement on the week though. On Monday night I hopped a flight over to O'ahu and met up with Lauren and Jay and a few other WCCBers in Waikiki. My friend Rausch accompanied us for the evening and let me crash with her. I didn't meet up with them until 7:30ish and after an ok (but pricey) buffet meal, we wandered around town for a little while before settling on a honkey-tonk bar underneath their hotel. The night was cut short by tired travelers--they went to bed around 10:30. Rausch and I went back to her place and hung out only to get up at 3:20 to get me on the first flight home so I wouldn't miss work (by the way, I worked until 7:00 that night). It was exhausting. It was good to see them, but the situation could have been better (and less rushed). I will say though, it's quite the luxury to be able to go to another island for the night for under $50 round trip. And I did almost crap myself when I saw Dr. Hancock walking down the streets of Waikiki. You compartmentalize people and it's odd to see them out of their natural habitat...
Anyway, that's all from me for now. I need to pack!! I'll blog if I get the chance; if not, expect a ton of pictures and a lot of narrative from me when I get back! Sianara!
