A slow week (for a change)

Not much to report, but thought I would let everyone know that life is back to normal. Rick bought a grill and we've fired it up a couple of times--nothing like grilling and having a few beers after a long day of work. Speaking of work, it's been a little stressful lately trying to get everything squared away before I go on vacation (Japan in less than 2 weeks!!). I would love to get it all done before hand or leave a task list; problem is I can't do it ahead of time (the corn only grows so fast) and I'm the only one that knows what needs to be done and how to do it. So I have to train my crew and my temporary replacement and hope there's no questions while I'm gone. Just a little extra stress.

They've been burning sugar cane lately (this picture is taken from Rick's front door) so there's a sweet burning smell in the air. On Thursday I got to work the foredeck all by myself on the sailboat since we were short-handed. It was awesome. And last night we went to Kintaro's for sushi--turns out I don't like sushi (just like I had suspected). But it was good nonetheless.

And a talk with Janie tonight has gotten me really excited for my trip! I can't wait!!!
