January = bad health month?

About two weeks ago, Allyson's boyfriend Chad sprained his ankle very badly while doing a roundhouse kick in kickboxing (I don't make this stuff up, though I laugh thinking of Chad as the next Churck Norris). He was on crutches for most of January. About that same time my grandpa got pretty sick and Helen got into a car accident. Totaled the car, but walked away with some aches and pains. That same week my dad fell and sprained a wrist and broke the other one. So he's been working in a cast and a brace.

Yesterday, dad was working some elk for a client, got caught between some gates pushed by the bull and a post, and broke his pelvis in two places. Ouch. Allyson and I laughed a little since we both got messages of, "It's your dad, I think I broke my pelvis. Call your mom." So he's in the hospital with a cast on his arm and laid up with a broken pelvis. Luckily, he doesn't need to have surgery or pins for the break, but according to the doctors he'll be laid up for 6-8 weeks. Then again, this is my dad who was working elk with a broken wrist and another in a brace...

My aunt's cancer is also back. She begins another round of chemo tomorrow and still has an amazing fighting spirit.

Allyson and I are heading home this weekend to see Dad and help Mom around the farm with the cattle. I hope your loved ones are safe and well.
