Not too much new here--just school and working in the lab. I started my research a week ago and it's not going as well as it could, but it's not failing, so that's a plus. Had to present what I was doing and why to my fellow lab workers and apparently that went well (my PI said "very good" when I finished talking--I'll take it!). Prepared an abstract to present at a conference in Vancouver this summer--it's due tomorrow and my PI still has to review it, but I think I did what I was supposed to! I turned in my first homework assignment yesterday and I think it went well. First test is on Monday (after the Superbowl, what were they thinking?) and I've started studying. I think it should be manageable, but then again, it is molecular biology... School is just so overwhelming at times and not all at the same time.
The cold snap shook up the house and our shower didn't work on Tuesday--we think the pipe was frozen. Luckily we have more than one shower. Annyoying, though, that the landlord didn't return my call. Isn't a broken shower kind of important? We're just so frustrated with our landlord right now. Nice guy, but hasn't fixed a damn thing that was wrong with the house before we ever moved in. And a few weekends ago he said he'd be out, we waited (and later gave up and went on our merry way), and he calls Tuesday night to say sorry he couldn't make it. Would a call on Saturday when you know you're not coming be too much to ask? It's just so frustrating...
Former Wartburger Leo Marlowe was the last contestant on American Idol on Tuesday night's auditions in Omaha. I was so excited! It's funny; we knew each other (our jazz ensembles traveled together) but we were never tight. And he transferred. You would have thought he was my best friend the way I was running around the house and calling people. Anyway, he got three yeses from the judges and is on through to Hollywood and I wish him all the best. You should too.
That's all for me--I should look busy. I really only have two choices now-a-days: study or read!

Dude, I just happened to catch American Idol the other night (I don't usually see it) and Brian was sleeping on the couch next to me and when Leo came on at the end, I was like, Dude, I know that guy! It was really wierd. I hardly knew him at school, but he was a memorable kid. Anyway, just thought that was bizarre. Hope school treats you nice this month. Tomorrow is Friday :)
