Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and moms-to-be out there! I was home with my mom this weekend and it was very pleasant.

Last week was fairly uneventful aside from taking some friends from Hawaii out on Thursday night--it was so good to see them! I headed up to my parents' house on Friday night after work and my mom had invited family and family friends for dinner. My sister and her college roommate were also home so it was a nice evening.

Saturday morning my mom was hosting a mother-daughter brunch for the 4-H Club that she leads, so I helped serve them. It was fun, but a little tiring. That afternoon I had a flight check scheduled to keep current (I don't fly as much as I should). The plane wouldn't start, and after a call to Dad to see why the engine wouldn't fire, he jump started the airplane with his truck. Then I watched my dad replace the panel mere feet from a rotating propeller... but all went well. He, along with the instructor I was meeting, assured me that flying the airplane moments after jumping it was perfectly safe. The check went well and it was good to fly again. Saturday evening was relaxing and Dad and I stayed up late watching Betty White on SNL.

Sunday I taught my mom how to play Bubble Town (very similar to Snood) and helped Mom and Dad sort cattle to move to pasture. It's been a while, but I think I've still got the cattle-working skills. My sister, who had been at a bachelorette party, showed up halfway through the process and we were as we had been so many times before as a family: standing ankle deep in muck yelling at and chasing cattle. Strangely, it's a comfortable feeling.

The weather is crazy--I wish spring would be a little warmer and drier!
