Look what was in our back yard today when we got home from work:
A
redbud and a spruce! Back when we bought the house, we countered with trees and they ended up in our offer. We told them it was
ok to not put the trees in until spring, but they're finally here!
Now to keep them alive! The weather has been crazy lately--sunny one minute and thundering the next--and I thought the sky looked particularly neat as the storm clouds rolled in around sunset.
As I was coming home from riding I chased a rainbow and managed to get the house positioned at the end. It was a complete double rainbow--so pretty!
In other news, Rick mowed the lawn for the first time (the sod took a while to grow), we went to the
PBR on Friday night with the family, the first
Des Moines farmers' market on Saturday morning (got some
Gouda, strawberries, and beef jerky), had some girlfriends over Saturday night, and good friends from college over for a
barbecue Sunday afternoon (with a strawberry pie made from Saturday's buy). A good weekend, and a good start to a fresh week.
