We had a exciting and fun-filled weekend; we're still recovering! Friday Rick returned from a week-long trip to Texas and returned with a new Ford Explorer. He's had his eye on the new Explorers for a few years and after some research we decided to get the new car. While we don't need the bigger car just yet, we thought it would be good to enjoy it while it's new (break it in before we have kids), and it was a little tight in the Escape at Christmas time with the dog and the gifts. It's a very pretty blue, huge (I feel very tiny in it!), and very comfortable and nice! I'll try and get some pictures up of it soon.
Friday night some college friends of mine arrived with their 2-month old son and spent the first night of a 10-day Midwestern road trip with us. It was great to meet the little guy and see them--it's been too long. It was great to catch up with them and we were glad we were a stop on the road trip. Rick's birthday was Saturday and he wanted to smoke a brisket and have some folks over. The weather was beautiful and it was great to have people over to celebrate. We incorporated a new couple into our usual crowd and I think everyone got along well and had a good time. I know we're getting older; there was talk of "going out" later in the evening, but most people had left by 9 and those that were left played some cards. We had everything cleaned and were ready for bed shortly after 10. But it was a great night, and we spent most of Sunday relaxing and recovering from the excitement.
I think I neglected to mention that my mom and sister stayed with me a few nights last week to keep me company while Rick was away. We had a nice time hanging out and Mom and I went shopping and made some ornaments for my Easter tree (which is a branch that I got out of the ditch--very classy). I'll have to take a picture of it for the next post. I was entertaining Tuesday-Saturday, so I was ready for the break yesterday!
Today the electrician was in the basement. I took a picture or two on Rick's insistence, but it's not nearly as visually exciting as the framing in my mind. Anyway, they seem to be moving quickly, which makes us excited--can't wait until it's finished! I think the electrician is almost done, I wonder who comes next.
