Snow day!

Today we woke up to more than a foot of snow!  We've seen promises of this storm for the better part of a week, and so far it has lived up to the hype.  It started snowing here around 5 last night, and as we went to bed last night there was thunder and lightning.  When we woke up this morning it was still snowing and although the snow has stopped, the wind has picked up.  Our power flickered off and on for a few hours early this morning, but everything is fine with us now.  Travel is not advised across the state and we didn't have to go to work today--a rare snow day which is a nice treat.  It took Rick an hour and a half to blow out the driveway, though that was partially because the city pushed the snow off of the road into driveways.  So we're hunkered down for the day, staying in and doing some things around the house and relaxing.

We've been telling the baby that anytime is a good time to come, but we were both really nervous that she would want to make her big debut last night during the worst of this blizzard.  Luckily she decided she was happy and warm right where she is, but not knowing that nothing would happen both Rick and I slept pretty poorly last night.  The snow day is providing for some much-needed nap time, and the baby ban has been lifted.  Although travel isn't recommended, we could make it at this point.  It would take us a while, but we could get there.  Hear that baby?

Speaking of the baby, the doctor handed her an eviction notice yesterday.  We agreed on Friday, but the hospital was booked for induction so now we're scheduled for next Wednesday the 26th.  I hope she comes on her own before then, but if not there is a definite end in sight.  It is kind of strange, though, to get a piece of paper with a date and time on it when your baby will be born.  It's very surreal.  And to have the ability to choose between a few dates when the baby will arrive...it seems like we shouldn't have this much control.  And I'm sort of hoping we don't and she comes on her own very soon!

That's all from us--hope you are all staying warm and safe during this blizzard.  Good luck to Becky's high school's football team today as they play for the state championships in the Dallas Cowboys stadium tonight!
