Life has a funny way...

My bosses had a meeting today and decided they would like to send me and one other research assistant to the Learning Institue, a conference for the little guy (like myself) at Pioneer International headquarters. Where, might you ask, are they sending me? Europe? Chicago? DC? No place else but Johnston, IA! It made me laugh. What made me laugh more was that I'll be flying home Dec 23, back on the 29th, and then getting back on the plane two weeks later to be at the conference January 17-19. Sadly, I can't take any vacation time when I'm in Iowa since it will be really busy here, but I'll be around the DM area and it's a free trip and a week out of work. I thught it might be funny to sign up for all the workshops that are tours and say, I used to work here. I know my way around. But I won't. Today was the first day I was excited about my job. And learning more about my job. This should be a neat opportunity.

And a good way to see people again. And eat at Hickory Park and go shopping at Kohl's. And see snow--again.

Okay, so you at least get to fly to IA, and not endure the 2800 miles in a car with 3 kids. But we had fun, for the most part.
About the mice- when I did my interim in D.C. while in college, we lived a month in the ghetto, and the gig was to see how many mice you could catch in one night. We did 14 one night, and they ran accross the sleeping bags on the floor, because aside from a couple of folding chairs, we had no furniture. Just remember that you are bigger than they are, and we even caught 4 in 20 minutes in our house here about 3 years ago. They are more scared of you than you are of them!!
Glad to hear you are making the most of life in Hawaii. Hard to believe you will be moving again- so unlike you to stay in one place for so long (ha, ha!!) I think I moved 7 times in about the first 2 years I lived there.
Mom decided that Mark and I (Dierenfeld, that is), looked like a couple of cripples while we were there. I go back to the DR next week to see about my knee. It is just killing me with the cooler weather.
Take care, and don't work too hard. Enjoy a sunset for me. Cinda
