Wednesday--the first day of sun

After making Mom cry a little on the trail on Tuesday, we decided to be nice on Wednesday and do something Mom wanted to do. We stopped at the Gay and Robinson sugar plantation--the only one still in operation on the island. Unfortunately, it had been raining quite a bit the past few days and there were no tours because the fields were so wet. Sorry Mom.
I took them down to Glass Beach. Allyson and I crawled around on the lava and left Mom on the top to watch us and see whales.
Isn't this a great photo of Allyson in front of Keyhole Cave?
We still felt a little guilty about not doing something Mom wanted to do, so we went to the National Tropical Botanical Gardens. The tours to the actual gardens were a few hours long so we just wandered around the visitor's center which was very beautiful in itself. Learned names of some of the plants Mom had been asking about all week.
Then, Allyson's dream come true, a sunny day at the beach. She snorkeled for the first time ever and did beautifully (though we did hold hands the whole time) and it was very nice out. Too nice. We all got sunburned. But hey, that's what the tropical sun is all about, right?
