Fun (long) weekend

I almost caught up at work this week, but I'm anxiously waiting to hear from ISU. They said I would know by the middle of this week. As soon as I hear a definite yes, I can put my pseudo plan into action. If I don't make it in, I'm not exactly sure what will happen. I'll figure it out.
The week was pretty standard (though we did have this cane spider in our house one night--he's almost as big as the door hinge!), but the fun began on Friday night. I saw a fun girl from work the other day and mentioned to her that we never hang out any more. Instant ticket to local fun.

Friday night Lana and Guy picked Rick and I up at my place and we headed in to Lihue to Roy's Good Times Grill--the only 'club' on the island. It wasn't really fancy, just the typical bar with a kitchen and small dance floor. But for Kauai, it was pretty impressive. We had a great time and drank too much and danced the night away. It was so fun. So much fun we didn't get home until 1:30 (the latest I've ever stayed up on this island--not much night life) and I didn't get up until 10:30 the next morning. Guy and Lana are great too; I hope we can all hang out again sometime soon.
Saturday afternoon we headed to the north shore and went camping at Kahili Beach. It was a nice area and we had the camping to ourselves. A night of campfire and hanging out with good friends (and meeting a few locals). And, once again, Rick was rained off of his cot and I out of my hammock into friends' tents. Yesterday I decided I was going to break down and buy a tent sicne we camp quite a bit (and get rained on just as often).
Sunday morning after breakfast we hiked around the point to the Pools of Mokolea. Pretty neat, very similar to the lava beach near my house. But the pools were deeper and had microclimates within them. We had fun exploring...
