I am currently sitting in the recliner, the only real seating in our house, watching exactly what I want to on the television. I came home today to an empty house--the Canadian boys headed back to the mainland. They've been here since I last came home from Iowa. A month is a long time to have visitors crashing on your floor and occupying your house day in and day out. They're nice guys, but it's refreshing to have an empty house.
I think I left off this weekend with a stop at the Hanalei taro fields, so I thought I'd throw a picture on here. It's pretty.

Saturday also brought errands--I actually tried to buy my tires, but I was obviously cramping the Costco employees style. So I still have crappy tires. Don't remember what else happened on Saturday--I was planning on going SCUBA diving on Sunday morning. Got up at 6:15 AM, drove 20 minutes and noticed it was only 57 degrees outside... Turns out someone was supposed to call me and let me know there was a paying customer (therefore taking my free spot on the boat) so I grumbled back home. Took the Canadian boys and Rick to Poipu Beach to go snorkeling--we saw 3 monk seals which is odd since they're generally solitary creatures (thus the name). In the afternoon Kristin and I made Valentine's Day sugar cookies and the Canadians, Kristin and her boyfriend, and Rick and I all barbecued over at Josh's, sort of a farewell for the boys. Good times, good food.
This week I started my new job. It's a lot more responsibility but a lot more freedom as well. I really like it so far. Yesterday I got asked to judge a science fair here on the island--I was really pumped. It was pretty fun--lots of projects. I got the junior high kids, some good and some bad, but it was fun to drill them about their projects.
I realized the other day I haven't put up any pictures of my new place, so here's the kitchen. Notice the dozen roses on the table--a nice Valentine's Day present from Rick!
I'd like to put up more of the house, but my camera is being difficult again. We'll see what I can do. The door on the left is the bathroom and the other door leads to the back porch. My room is across from the bathroom. You'll have to use your imagination for now.
As if my life weren't exciting enough, Uncle John and Peggy are on Maui right now and they called today and will be meeting me on O'ahu on Friday!!! I can't believe they are within a few hundred miles and that I'm going to see them in a few days. I can't wait for Friday!!!
