Promotion!

Thought I'd share the good news--I got the job! I officially accepted the research associate position today. My pay will be double what I made last year (with the cost of living adjustment) and I will have my own cubicle (which is a big deal out here). Plus my own lab (which has yet to be put together), my own assistant, and, rumor has it, a company truck. And I'll be doing work that requires responsibility and a brain. Sweet.

In other news, we had a "Corn Team" meeting Dan in the winter nursery (since November), we have hand-pollinated 500,000 plants!!! That boils down to 10,000 per person since we only have about 50 pollinators. I've done roughly 10,000 pollinations since I've been here. Isn't that crazy?

Weather here has been shady at best--really windy and rainy. If it clears up this weekend I might go SCUBA diving. That is, of course, if I don't have to work (which, by the way is a very good possibility). Things are going well here, but I've gotta keep it short tonight--I want to make some thank you/goodbye bars for my old group. They're great guys...

Congrats on your promotion! And hooray for responsibility and brain-usage! The extra cash will be pretty sweet, too.

I was talking about you at work today. We were discussing school lunch, and I mentioned that we sometimes had Spam (or generic Spam) for lunch. A coworker decided to spit out some random trivia and asked the rest of us: "Did you know that Spam is extremely popular in Hawaii?" As a matter of fact, I DID know that. Hahaha.

Congrats!!!! I'll have to tell Brad that he should have stayed with Pioneer, Ha, Ha. I hear that John and Peg are on the way to the islands! Hope they get to see you. I'll have to talk to your mom about that! I love seeing the pics. Again I wish I would have had the new hip when we were there last. With this new promotion, it sounds like you will be staying a while. Maybe I can talk your mom and Steve into going. I know your dad would fly out in a heart beat as would I, but that Brunsvold blood must make them not like flying. Oh well, congrats again.
Lots of love from cold Iowa.
